July 2010 - OOTW was notified of two groups of dogs from an impoverished area in White County. All the dogs appear to have been abandon and the families as of right now have no income, one family has only just applied for disability, but it’s not yet approved. The lady of one of the households suffers from depression so the dogs are probably good for her however she has taken in more she can afford to feed much less give any form a vet care. All the dogs are really nice, they are not mistreated, the families are kind to them and the dogs seem to get attention.

Bettye and Kathy M. are the project managers, they are supplying food for these families and they are doing all they can to ensure that these dogs are cared for properly, but we want very much to find help for them. We need foster or forever homes. They will be fully vetted when we are able to get them into town.

Sometime in mid May, five little fur balls along with their terrified mother were dumped on the side of a busy rural highway near Beebe. They would surely have all been run over before the end of the day if a kind couple hadn't stopped and taken them all into safety. These people couldn't leave the dogs on the side of the road; being much more compassionate than the person(s) who dumped them out there in the first place.

The couple managed to gather up the puppies and then get the mother to follow them into the car. The mama dog sat in the back seat quietly, and it appeared she was used to riding in a car; she had once been someone's pet. All had been well fed and cared for, and it is a mystery why anyone would take such good care of them, only to dump them beside the road when they became ‘inconvenient'.

The mother is sweet, very calm and friendly, medium sized brown shepherd mix with a black muzzle. The puppies must all take after their father; all five are fuzzy and black and some have little white toes. They have apparently been handled quite a bit, are very human-friendly, and give really good puppy kisses. They are quite fluffy, and look as if they will become medium sized dogs with plush coats.

Gwyneth, the mother dog needs to be fully vetted and spayed. But the puppies are healthy, fat and ready for their forever homes. There are 2 girls we are calling Greta and Gretchen, and 3 boys, Greg, George and Garth.
