OOTW coordinated efforts to help a group of dogs who were reportedly in a "rescue" that had become overwhelmed. It appears that the dogs in need of our help had all come from puppymills. We had received pictures from this "rescue", but when we arrived many of the dogs were in such bad condition that they were unrecognizable. Those who were in the worst condition went immediately to the vet. The remaining dogs were quickly given flea treatments and baths. As they were all being entrees for fleas, they had mild to severe symptoms of infestation causing hair loss and sores all over their bodies. Their coats were filthy and matted, and their nails very long. They looked and smelled as though they had never had any basic grooming, not even a bath. Of the 22 dogs rescued that day OOTW took eleven, of the eleven, 4 are only now ready to be listed due to the severity of the their condition and will be on our website soon!, 5 have been adopted and 2 are still up for adoption.

OOTW reported and provided pictures and written documentation of the situation to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), which resulted in the raid of the property and the seizure of the remaining 100 dogs, 5 cats and 2 guinea pigs. The rescue made headline news across the country and the two women responsible were charged with felony cruelty to animals, the case is pending.
